Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my door?
Will it fit my door?
It's designed for interior and wooden doors, including bedrooms, offices, apartments and rentals, and it installs as a direct replacement for a standard ball lock or deadbolt. A drilling template is included so the holes line up correctly the first time. If your door already has the standard holes, it goes straight on. If you are unsure about your door, send us a photo before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it will fit.
How hard is it actually to install?
How hard is it actually to install?
Most customers fit it themselves with a screwdriver, and 99% of the people who mention installation in our reviews rated their lock four stars or higher. The honest version is this. If your door is already prepared with the standard holes, it is straightforward. If it is not, you will need to drill using the included template, and that adds time. No locksmith and no technical experience required either way.
What happens if the battery dies?
What happens if the battery dies?
You still get in. There is a USB port on the outside panel, so any phone power bank brings the lock straight back to life. The keyhole is also still there as a physical override. A flat battery is an inconvenience with this lock, never a lockout.
What if the fingerprint stops recognising my print?
What if the fingerprint stops recognising my print?
Then you use one of the other four ways in. Passcode, IC card, physical key, or your phone. This is the single most common complaint people have about smart locks in general, which is exactly why this one was never designed to depend on one method. You can also re-enrol a print in the app in under a minute, and adding two prints per person, usually a thumb and an index finger, makes misreads far less likely.
Do I need a hub, a gateway, or a monthly subscription?
Do I need a hub, a gateway, or a monthly subscription?
No. The price you pay is the price of a fully working lock. There is no separate gateway to buy, no monthly plan, and no features locked behind an upgrade later. Every unlock method and every app function is included.
Can I give someone access and take it back later?
Can I give someone access and take it back later?
Yes, and this is one of the strongest reasons people buy it. Create a passcode, fingerprint or card for each person individually. Give a cleaner a code on Tuesdays, give your kids their own fingerprints, give a guest a code for a weekend. When someone no longer needs access, you delete their code in the app and everyone else's keeps working. No re-keying, no new keys cut, and no wondering who still has a copy.
Can I control it when I'm not home?
Can I control it when I'm not home?
Yes. With the Wi-Fi model you can lock, unlock and manage access from anywhere. With Bluetooth you control it from your phone when you are within range of the door. Either way, the keypad, fingerprint, card and key all work whether your phone is with you or not.
Is a smart lock really as secure as a normal lock?
Is a smart lock really as secure as a normal lock?
Here is the straight answer. The deadbolt does the securing, exactly as it does on a mechanical lock. What changes is who can open it and how you manage that. With a traditional lock, anyone holding a copied key gets in forever and you have no way of knowing how many copies exist. With this one, access is individual, revocable, and impossible to duplicate at a hardware store. For interior doors, bedrooms, offices and rentals, that control is usually the part that actually matters.
